haiti

Just read this story of a friend's father who is in Haiti on a humanitarian aid trip for our church.

I can't even read about the devastation there, let alone see pictures and video. Bless him for being there and being able and willing to help.

Also love this resource from PBS for helping children understand and deal with news issues like this, once they're old enough to.

dinosaur train loves adoption

Have you seen the new PBS show "Dinosaur Train"? It's about a baby T-Rex who is adopted by a Pteranodon family. Here's the open:

Mooks loves it. I love it because they talk about his adoption. They search for his "species." Watch for it on PBS, or go on itunes and buy the "I'm a T-Rex!" episode, wherein Buddy figures out that he's a T-Rex and is so excited to finally know. Later he's asked whether he wants to stay with the T-Rexes now, and his answer is perfect:

"Some kids look like their parents and some don't. What matters is, my family loves me.... I can't wait to get home.... I want to be with my mom and dad and sisters and brother."

Oh, and also, she built a nest and pretends to be Mrs. Pteranodon. She even went to the fridge and tried to get some eggs out. And that's just a bonus.

blind side

Went to the movie last night with the old bear. Loved it. I cried through the whole thing. of course there's some artistic license taken with Michael Oher's story, but it was a lovely film full of feeling.

I loved when Leigh Anne stood up to her snooty friends over lunch one day. "Shame on you." I've felt to say that a few times in the last three years but haven't had the guts.

So all I'm saying is go see it.

because cats are girls and dogs are boys

This whole skit is kind of funny, but I laughed out loud at the dogs and cats part. Because that's my kind of logic!

certified

We received notice today that as of last Thursday, September 10, we are certified to adopt by the state of Arizona. It went much faster than we had anticipated, and we are ecstatic!
